2024 ASO International Eye Care Expo
The Australian Society of Ophthalmologists will host its inaugural overseas Mission in Hanoi, Vietnam in September 2025.
Experience the ‘Paris of the Orient’, the cultural heart of Vietnam, surrounded by the River Delta on this seven-day educational program that will take you onto the frontlines of local eye health services.
It is an opportunity to experience second-world ophthalmology, how it works, what you can do, and how you can help — with the added benefit of being able to bring the family or a friend for a tax-deductible getaway close to home.
The proposed program aims principally to provide an understanding of eye health services and ophthalmology practices and services in Vietnam and examine how we might contribute to bridging any gaps experienced by our ASEAN friends.
As a delegate, you can expect to hear from foreign affairs representatives as well as Australian-trained ophthalmologists who are now working on the ground.
An enjoyable bonus of the program will be exposure to the ancient culture of Vietnam and its modern tourism attractions with local knowledge from our very own CEO, Kerry Gallagher AM.
As a member of the Australian Army Training Team Vietnam, Kerry lived in and worked closely with Vietnamese communities and developed a lifelong respect and appreciation for the people and local culture.
