ASO Skills Expo 2025
The 10th Australian Society of Ophthalmologists (ASO) Skills Expo is headed to Brisbane in 2025.
Save the date to join us in Brisbane from 31 May – 1 June 2025 for one of the largest gatherings of the Australian ophthalmology industry.
The ASO Skills Expo tests the thinking of the industry with robust debates on the key topics and challenges our doctors and their patients are navigating.
It is an opportunity to come together with ophthalmology peers to share the latest in best practice, knowledge and cutting-edge medical technology developments.
The event also hosts the annual Leaders Breakfast Forum, which returns for a third year running, and is open to non-members of the ASO for the first time.
In 2025, the Forum is sponsored by Ramsay Health Care and will include an opening keynote presentation from Dr Jana Pittman as well as the following panellists:
- Ramsay Health Care, National Chief Executive Officer of Ramsay Surgical Centres, Claire Thurwood
- AMA President, Dr Danielle McMullen
- AMA Vice President, Associate Professor Julian Rait OAM
- Queensland Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, Hon Tim Nicholls MP
- Day Hospitals Australia Chair, A/Prof Anthony Lynham
- ASO President, Dr Peter Sumich
- RANZCO Vice President, Dr Diana Conrad
- Aller Consulting Managing Director and Health Advisor, David du Plessis.
Everything is up for discussion, including the creep towards US-style Managed Care in Australia, the rise of private health insurers vertically integrating into our hospitals, the pros and cons of the current plans for the mass entry of Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs) into Australia, and more.
